The 100th Anniversary Celebration of Sun Yat-sen University and the 2024 Nursing Young Scholars Forum of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance were successfully held

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Sun Yat-sen University, in order to promote in-depth exchanges and cooperation in the field of nursing between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, on the morning of November 22, the celebration of the centenary of Sun Yat-sen University and the opening ceremony of the 2024 Nursing Young Scholars Forum of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance were held in the International Hall of Ocean Hotel Guangzhou. Professor Zhang Qi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Sun Yat-sen University; Professor Jiang Xiaoying, Chairman of the Higher Nursing Education Committee of the Chinese Nursing Association and President of the Chinese Journal of Nursing; Professor Sun Hongyu,from the School of Nursing, Peking University, Secretary General of the Teaching Steering Committee of Nursing Majors in Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education, Chief Nurse Cheng Shouzhen, Chairman of the Guangdong Nursing Association and winner of the 48th Nightingale Medal; Long Bo, Director of the General Management Office and Deputy Director of Administration of Sun Yat-sen University Health Science Center; Yu Bojun, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of Sun Yat-sen University, attended this forum, along with leaders and brilliant scholars of nursing colleges in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao University Nursing Alliance, members of the CPC school of nursing of Sun Yat-sen University Committee, previous staffs of the Party and administration department, teachers and students, alumni and retired teachers representatives, leaders of nursing departments of affiliated hospitals of Sun Yat-sen University, and representatives of nursing peers in universities from multiple provinces in the Mainland and Hong Kong and Macao, totaling more than 400 people. The celebration and opening ceremony were hosted by Prof. Zhang Jun'e, director of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance for Nursing and deputy dean of the School of Nursing of Sun Yat-sen University.

At the beginning, Deputy Secretary Zhang Qi, President Jiang Xiaoying, Secretary-General Sun Hongyu, Chairman Cheng Shouzhen, Professor Huang Jinyue of the School of Nursing of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Professor Yin Yiqiao, Dean of Kiang Wu School of Nursing, Macau, delivered speeches at the conference. They extended their sincerest congratulations to the 110th anniversary of the founding of nursing education in Sun Yat-sen University, and warmly congratulated the successful convening of the 2024 Nursing Youth Scholars Forum of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance.
After the speeches, Deputy Secretary Zhang Qi presented certificates to the representatives of the two new universities in 2024, Hong Kong Tung Wah College and the Medical College of Jiaying University.

At the opening ceremony, there was a lion dance performance and a chorus of "Bay Area is Hometown" brought by students from 17 alliance universities, which brought the atmosphere to a climax, in order to celebrate the successful convening of the 2024 Nursing Young Scholars Forum of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance, and jointly present the century birthday of Sun Yat-sen University!

The theme of the conference is "Embrace the Responsibility of Human Healthcare, Uphold the Commitment of the Greater Bay Area", and well-known experts and scholars from home and abroad are invited to focus on topics of "Nursing + X Interdisciplinary Cooperation" and "Health Care Integration and Innovation".
Associate Professor Zhang Lifeng, Deputy Dean of the School of Nursing, Sun Yat-sen University, summarized this forum and expressed gratitude to all guests. The establishment of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance for Nursing has provided a long-term and open platform for cooperative research and academic exchange among universities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. It has promoted conducting scientific research cooperation fostering outstanding young nursing talents. Finally, Prof. Zhang once again thanked the support from all alliance member institutions, and announced the successful curtain fall of the 2024 Nursing Youth Scholars Forum of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance!
